Notes on 'hand-dyed' thread

Many tatters have encouraged the use of hand-dyed threads.... and after my brief experience with my own crude 'dye-jobs'... I have a small idea of what they are saying!
At first, I could only see the possiblities of new colors or more personal color combos. But Clyde says:

And I must say you won't get bored with or tired of tatting the same pattern if you are working on a doily or other large project, when you see the facinating and amazing color patterns that appear beneath your hands!
I am in the process of mixing some REAL permanent fabric dye right now! :)
